The Fourth Industrial Revolution will take center stage at the Africa Blockchain Conference annual meeting tomorrow in Kampala, Uganda.
The two-day will bring together more than 3000 attendees, including Africa’s biggest tech players as well as exhibitors, and dozens of influential speakers, in one of the largest blockchain events in Africa.
Africa Blockchain Conference 2019 Agenda
Themed “Africa 4.0: Preparing Africa for the 4th Industrial Revolution” this year’s conference will explore the opportunities, risks, and benefits of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) as well as how Africa can leverage 4IR for its growth.
Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio and Uganda President Yoweri Museveni will grace the event, which is organized by the CryptoSavannah and the Blockchain Association of Uganda with the support of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
What is the Fourth Industrial Revolution?
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) represents a new phase in human development characterized by extraordinary technology advances that are impacting the way we live, work and relate to one another. Some of these technologies include blockchain, robotics, self-driving cars, artificial intelligence, big data, drones and internet of things (IoT).
Simply put, the 4IR refers to how these technologies are fusing to impact every aspect of our physical, digital and biological world. Companies, governments, and leaders are struggling to keep up with the fast pace of technological change. It is, therefore, important to collaborate across geographies, sectors, and disciplines to grasp the opportunities that 4IR presents. This is the goal of the Africa blockchain conference 2019.
Africa 4.0 Tech Expo
Running alongside the Africa blockchain conference is the “Africa 4.0 Tech Expo”, a tech exhibition showcasing the leading Africa technology innovations and exhibitions. Some of the companies set to participate in the tech expo include Ubuntu group, Huobi, Yo Uganda, KLF Coin, Kwiksy, Project Hydro, Sunstone SAS, Input/Output, Flutterwave, Crossroads, CITL International, and Century Group.
What to Expect for Blockchain
Blockchain and crypto-related topics and projects will be discussed at the conference. Mohit Davar (Huonbi) will deliver a keynote speech focused on the impact of blockchain and crypto across the globe. Charles Hoskinson, Co-founder of Ethereum and Cardano blockchains, will explore blockchain opportunities for Africa, in another keynote speech.
CryptoSavannah Director, Noah Baalesanvu, expressed the importance of the Africa Blockchain Conference to Uganda and the rest of Africa:
“We have an opportunity to be at the forefront of 4IR in Africa and it is of great importance to have all interested parties attend and discover what the future will look like for our lives and businesses at the coming of the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
The Africa blockchain conference comes at the back of another similar event that also focused on driving interaction regarding the future of Africa technology landscape.
